Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chondrogen is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of donor-derived human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) formulated in a sodium hyaluronan suspension. Originally developed by Osiris Therapeutics and later by Mesoblast, it is administered via intra-articular injection for the regeneration of the meniscus following injury or surgery (such as partial medial meniscectomy). The therapy acts as a cell and tissue replacement, aiming to restore cartilage and prevent the progression of osteoarthritis by providing a regenerative environment within the knee joint. Clinical evaluation has included Phase I/II studies assessing safety and efficacy in meniscal regeneration.
