Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Chondroitin sulfate-docetaxel** is an experimental redox-responsive polymer-drug conjugate in which the taxane chemotherapy agent docetaxel is covalently linked to chondroitin sulfate through a disulfide-containing linker. The chondroitin sulfate carrier is intended to promote tumor-cell uptake through CD44-associated targeting and facilitate intracellular delivery, while reductive tumor-cell conditions can cleave the disulfide linkage and release docetaxel. Released docetaxel binds beta-tubulin, stabilizes microtubules, disrupts mitosis, and induces cancer-cell death. The material designated C-ss-D has been reported as a component of dual-drug chondroitin sulfate-based polymer micelles with chondroitin sulfate-flurbiprofen for preclinical treatment of breast cancer.
