Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chonggu Granules (CGG) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation investigated for its therapeutic potential in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The formulation appears to exert chondroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects by modulating the miR-148a-3p/wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Preclinical studies in rat models have demonstrated that CGG can improve articular cartilage tissue integrity and extracellular matrix metabolism, reduce the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1β, and inhibit matrix-degrading enzymes including MMP-3 and MMP-13. Additionally, CGG has been shown to increase the expression of essential cartilage matrix components, specifically Type II collagen (Col2a1) and aggrecan, thereby alleviating the degeneration of articular cartilage.
