Overview
Ovigil is a brand of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) developed and manufactured by Shree Venkatesh International. As a glycoprotein hormone, it acts as an analogue of luteinizing hormone (LH) and is primarily used in the treatment of infertility. In women, Ovigil is indicated for the induction of ovulation and pregnancy in anovulatory infertile women, as well as for follicular maturation in assisted reproductive technology (ART) protocols such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). In men, it is used to stimulate androgen production in cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and to treat prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction. The drug functions by binding to and activating the LH/hCG receptor, which triggers downstream signaling pathways essential for gonadal steroidogenesis and gametogenesis.
