Overview

Chowi Seungcheng-tang (CST) is a traditional Korean herbal medicine, specifically an anti-obesity herbal medicine for Taeeumin, developed by Dongeuisusaebowon. It is approved by the KFDA for the treatment of abdominal bloating and distention after meals, as well as leg muscle weakness. CST is a combination of 12 medicinal herbs and is currently being investigated in a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, multi-center clinical trial to evaluate its efficacy and safety in obese Korean women with a high risk for metabolic syndrome. Preclinical findings have suggested anti-obesity effects and an ability to increase HDL levels, though its standalone effect on obesity in clinical settings is still under investigation.
