Overview

CHR-101 is an investigational small‑molecule inhibitor of covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA), being developed as a potentially curative therapy for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. By directly targeting HBV cccDNA, which serves as the stable nuclear template for viral replication and persistence, CHR-101 aims to durably suppress or eradicate viral reservoirs beyond what is achievable with current nucleos(t)ide analogues. The program originates from Chromis Therapeutics, a San Diego–based biopharmaceutical company focused on curative therapies for chronic HBV, and is currently in preclinical development as a first-in-class cccDNA-directed antiviral agent.[3][5][7]
