Overview

Christensenella minuta SJ-2 is a specific strain of the anaerobic, Gram-negative bacterium Christensenella minuta, which belongs to the family Christensenellaceae. This species is recognized as a keystone member of the human gut microbiome and has been associated with beneficial metabolic effects. Supplementation with C. minuta has demonstrated preventive and remedial benefits in preclinical models by modulating gut microbiota composition, reducing body weight gain, improving glycemic control, lowering plasma leptin levels, and alleviating acetaminophen-induced liver injury through its impact on host metabolism and energy homeostasis[1][3][4]. The mechanisms are thought to involve modulation of microbial community structure and enhancement of energy loss via increased stool biomass[4]. The strain designation "SJ-2" refers to a particular isolate but detailed information about this specific strain's unique properties or clinical development status is limited in public sources.
