Overview

Chromium-51 labelled cultured red cells is an investigational radiolabelled cellular product developed by Cell Therapies Pty Ltd. It consists of cultured red blood cells (cRBCs) that are labelled ex vivo with the radioactive isotope chromium-51 (51Cr) using a sterile sodium chromate solution. The product is designed for intravenous administration to evaluate the mean circulation time, biodistribution, and safety of cultured red cells in patients with low-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or those in remission from hematologic malignancies. The chromium-51 label serves as a diagnostic tracer for in vivo tracking via gamma scintigraphy, allowing researchers to monitor the survival and movement of the infused cells.
