Neuroprotective and sedative properties have also been described, including increased sleep duration in animal models[3]. It is primarily developed and manufactured by companies producing traditional herbal supplements, particularly in China and other Asian countries. The extract is marketed as a dietary supplement, herbal tea, and as an ingredient in multi-herbal preparations, but it is not classified as a pharmaceutical drug in most regulatory jurisdictions[5][6].
