Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CHS-2020 is an ophthalmology biosimilar of aflibercept (Eylea), a recombinant fusion protein. It functions by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a key mediator of angiogenesis, to prevent abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the eye, which are common in various retinal diseases. Initially developed by Coherus BioSciences, it was later divested to Sandoz as part of a strategic portfolio realignment.
