Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chuan Xin Lian Kang Yan Pian Mod is a modified traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula, used primarily for its heat-clearing and detoxifying properties. It is based on the classic Chuan Xin Lian Kang Yan Pian, which typically contains herbs such as Andrographis paniculata (Chuan Xin Lian), Isatis root (Ban Lan Gen), Dandelion (Pu Gong Ying), Prunella vulgaris (Xia Ku Cao), and sometimes other botanicals like Hedyotis diffusa or Bai Hua She She Cao. The "Mod" in the name indicates a modified version of the original formula, potentially with adjusted proportions or additional ingredients to enhance efficacy for specific indications. The mechanism of action is rooted in TCM theory—clearing heat, resolving toxins, cooling blood, reducing inflammation, and dispersing swelling. Modern research attributes some effects to andrographolide from Andrographis paniculata, which supports immune response and has anti-inflammatory activity. The formula is used for conditions associated with "toxic heat," such as sore throat, tonsillitis, respiratory infections (bronchitis, flu), skin infections/boils, urinary tract infections, hepatitis-related symptoms, gum/mouth sores/infectious[1][3][4][5]. In clinical research settings it has been studied as an adjunct therapy for chronic immune thrombocytopenia in children[8].
