chuanzhitongluojiaonang

Chuanzhitongluojiaonang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) capsule developed by Shaanxi Buchang Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. The formulation is primarily composed of *Hirudo* (leech) and *Ligusticum chuanxiong*. It is indicated for the recovery phase of cerebral infarction and acute ischemic stroke, aiming to improve neurological function and blood circulation by "unblocking collaterals." The active components, such as hirudin from the leech, provide anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects by acting as a direct thrombin inhibitor, while *Ligusticum chuanxiong* contributes to vasodilation and improved microcirculation through anti-platelet activity. Clinical studies have evaluated its effectiveness in patients with stroke, particularly those with comorbid diabetes mellitus, to improve neurological deficits (NIHSS scores) and self-care ability (mRS scores).
