Overview

Chungpa-jun (also known as Cheongpajeon) is a traditional Korean herbal decoction developed by Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine. It is a core component of an integrative non-surgical treatment package designed for spinal disorders, specifically studied for failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS). The formulation is a multi-herb decoction typically containing 10 to 12 medicinal herbs, including *Ostericum koreanum*, *Eucommia ulmoides*, *Acanthopanax sessiliflorus*, and *Achyranthes bidentata*. These ingredients are selected for their synergistic anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuroprotective properties, aiming to reduce pain and improve functional recovery in patients who have not found relief from conventional spinal surgery. In clinical practice and research, it is often administered orally as a 120ml dose twice daily, frequently in conjunction with Chuna manual therapy, acupuncture, and bee venom pharmacopuncture.
