CHXCART01 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by the Hong Kong Children's Hospital for the treatment of CD19-positive B-cell malignancies. This cell-based immunotherapy is specifically engineered for pediatric patients with relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and B-cell lymphoma who have failed multiple prior lines of therapy. The treatment process involves the extraction of a patient's own T cells, which are then genetically modified to express a CAR construct that specifically binds to the B-lymphocyte antigen CD19. Following a lymphodepleting chemotherapy regimen, the modified cells are re-infused into the patient, where they recognize and eliminate CD19-expressing malignant cells through targeted cytotoxicity. CHXCART01 is currently in early-phase clinical development to establish its safety profile and preliminary efficacy in the pediatric population.
