Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chymoral is an oral proteolytic enzyme preparation containing a combination of trypsin and chymotrypsin. It is primarily used in the management of inflammation and edema resulting from accidental or surgical trauma, as well as in various inflammatory conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease and respiratory tract infections. The enzymes work by breaking down fibrin clots and necrotic tissue, which improves local circulation and facilitates the resolution of swelling and hematomas. Originally developed and marketed in India by Elder Pharmaceuticals, the brand was acquired by Torrent Pharmaceuticals in 2013. It is typically administered as enteric-coated tablets to prevent degradation by gastric acid.
