Cicafast is an innovative, allogeneic cell-based biological dressing designed to promote regenerative wound healing, particularly for split-thickness skin graft (STSG) donor sites. Developed by researchers at the University Hospital of Montpellier, the product consists of a collagen matrix seeded with a defined ratio of active fetal fibroblasts and keratinocytes. These fetal cells possess unique regenerative properties, including high proliferative capacity, low immunogenicity, and the ability to promote scarless healing by mimicking the fetal wound environment. Cicafast acts as a biologically active scaffold that releases a complex milieu of growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix (ECM) components directly into the wound bed. This mechanism of action accelerates re-epithelialization, reduces local inflammation, and alleviates pain by covering exposed sensory nerve endings, ultimately aiming to improve the cosmetic and functional quality of the resulting scar.
