Overview

Ciclesonide + azelastine is a fixed-dose combination of two intranasal medications used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Ciclesonide is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid that acts as an agonist at the glucocorticoid receptor to reduce inflammation by inhibiting leukocyte infiltration and suppressing inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes[4][1]. Azelastine is a phthalazine derivative antihistamine that functions primarily as a histamine H1-receptor antagonist but also exhibits mast cell-stabilizing and anti-inflammatory properties[5][6]. The combination targets both early- and late-phase allergic responses to provide symptomatic relief from sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, and itching in patients with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis who are not adequately controlled on monotherapy[2].
