Overview

Ciclobendazole is a benzimidazole derivative and anthelmintic small molecule drug developed for the treatment of parasitic worm infections. It acts as a microtubule synthesis inhibitor by interfering with tubulin polymerization in susceptible parasites. Ciclobendazole was found to be as effective as mebendazole in treating hookworm infection and ascariasis but significantly less effective against trichuriasis. The drug underwent clinical trials in the 1970s but is not known to be marketed anywhere globally[1][2][4].
