Overview

The vaccine is a biologic designed to induce protective immunity against the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Research at CIGB has focused on utilizing conserved HCV proteins, such as the core antigen, envelope proteins (E1 and E2), and the non-structural protein NS3, formulated within various delivery systems. Preclinical studies have demonstrated the candidate's ability to elicit both humoral (antibody) and cellular (T cell) immune responses in animal models. It aims to prevent HCV infection and represents a key part of CIGB's vaccine portfolio, which includes other successful recombinant products like the hepatitis B vaccine HEBERBIOVAC HB.
