Renexin + aspirin is a therapeutic combination regimen consisting of the fixed-dose product Renexin (a combination of cilostazol and Ginkgo biloba extract) and the antiplatelet agent aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). Cilostazol is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3 (PDE3), which increases intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels, leading to potent inhibition of platelet aggregation and vasodilation. Ginkgo biloba extract provides complementary antiplatelet effects through platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor antagonism and possesses antioxidant properties that may mitigate cilostazol-induced side effects such as headaches. Aspirin provides irreversible inhibition of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), preventing the synthesis of thromboxane A2. This triple-action regimen is primarily utilized in South Korea for the secondary prevention of ischemic stroke and the management of peripheral arterial disease, particularly in patients requiring intensified antiplatelet therapy to prevent thrombotic events.
