Overview

Ciltacabtagene autoleucel is a B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA)-directed, genetically modified autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. It is used for the treatment of adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior line of therapy, including a proteasome inhibitor and an immunomodulatory agent, and are refractory to lenalidomide. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own T-cells, genetically modifying them ex vivo to express a CAR targeting BCMA (a protein highly expressed on malignant plasma cells), and re-infusing them into the patient. These engineered T-cells then recognize and eliminate BCMA-expressing cancer cells. Ciltacabtagene autoleucel was developed by Janssen Biotech in collaboration with Legend Biotech[1][3][4][5][6].
