Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CIMAvax-EGF + nivolumab is a combination immunotherapy approach for treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). CIMAvax-EGF is an epidermal growth factor (EGF)-depleting immunotherapy that works by inducing antibodies against EGF, which prevent EGF from binding to its receptor (EGFR) on cancer cells, thereby inhibiting tumor growth. Nivolumab is an anti-PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor that prevents PD-1 from binding to its ligands PD-L1/L2, removing PD-1 ligand-mediated inhibition of T-cell proliferation and function. The combination aims to create potential synergy by targeting both B lymphocytes (with CIMAvax-EGF) and T lymphocytes (with nivolumab) to enhance anti-tumor immunity.
