Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CimetrA is a multi-targeted anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory pharmaceutical formulation designed to address severe inflammatory responses, such as those seen in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and COVID-19. It is based on natural ingredients—primarily curcumin and Boswellia serrata—delivered via a nanoparticle or micellar delivery system for enhanced bioavailability. Some clinical studies also describe the inclusion of artemisinin and vitamin C in the formulation. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines, particularly suppression of IL-32 mRNA expression, reduction in C-reactive protein (CRP), and upregulation of intracellular heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), which provides antioxidant protection against oxidative stress-induced inflammation. Developed by MGC Pharmaceuticals with proprietary delivery technology from Graft Polymer, CimetrA has demonstrated safety and efficacy in preclinical models as well as Phase II clinical trials for COVID-19, showing potential to suppress cytokine storms associated with severe disease[2][3][4][5][7].
