Overview

CIN-103 is a small-molecule, modified pulsatile-release formulation of phloroglucinol, a phenol-derivative with antispasmodic properties. It is being developed for irritable bowel syndrome with predominant diarrhea (IBS-D). This novel formulation utilizes a proprietary pulsatile delivery system combining immediate-release and delayed-release processes designed to sustain exposure, maintain efficacy, and reduce dosing frequency compared to traditional phloroglucinol formulations. It is believed to target multiple IBS-D action points, including motility, secretion, pain, spasms, and inflammation. As a non-opioid based small molecule, it functions as an antispasmodic that specifically targets and relaxes smooth muscles in the gut, aiming to relieve abdominal pain and spasms.
