cinepazet

Cinepazet is a small molecule vasodilator and an ethyl ester derivative of cinepazic acid. It belongs to the class of alpha amino acid esters and features a piperazine ring with a trimethoxyphenyl group. Cinepazet acts primarily by inhibiting the influx of extracellular calcium into cells through slow calcium channels in the cell membrane. This mechanism leads to vasodilation and has been used for the treatment of angina pectoris and other cardiovascular conditions. The drug was marketed in France and Italy under the brand name Vascoril during the 1970s for cardiac therapy[9][10][7][5]. Its primary indication is as an antianginal agent.
