Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cinnamon leaf extract is a botanical derivative, notably from the *Cinnamomum osmophloeum* species native to Taiwan, containing a variety of bioactive secondary metabolites such as cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, phenolic acids, and flavonoids. It is recognized for its multi-functional pharmacological profile, exhibiting anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic properties. In neurodegenerative research, particularly for Parkinson's disease, the extract and its nanoemulsion formulations have shown potential in protecting dopaminergic neurons and reducing oxidative stress in animal models. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to the synergistic action of its constituent phenylpropanoids and polyphenols.
