ciprofloxacin + tinidazole

Ciprofloxacin + tinidazole is a fixed-dose combination of two antimicrobial agents used to treat a broad range of bacterial and protozoal infections. Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and repair in bacteria, leading to cell death. Tinidazole is a nitroimidazole derivative with antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity; it works by damaging the DNA of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, preventing their growth and multiplication. This combination is commonly prescribed for gastrointestinal infections (including traveler’s diarrhea), gynecological infections, certain sexually transmitted diseases (such as trichomoniasis), amebiasis, giardiasis, as well as for prophylaxis after surgery[1][2][4][5]. It has also been studied in chronic refractory pouchitis[8].
