ciprofloxacin + doxycycline + metronidazole

This treatment protocol, investigated by the Genesis Athens Clinic, is a combination therapy designed to treat chronic endometritis (CE) and restore fertility in women experiencing recurrent implantation failure or infertility. The approach involves a novel route of administration: intrauterine antibiotic infusion (IAI) of ciprofloxacin (3-4 ml of a 200 mg/100 ml solution) administered directly into the uterine cavity every three days for approximately one month (totaling 10 infusions). This localized treatment is combined with a standard oral antibiotic administration (OAA) regimen consisting of doxycycline (100 mg twice daily) and metronidazole (500 mg twice daily) for 14 days. The protocol aims to eradicate persistent bacterial infections within the endometrium that are often resistant to standard oral therapies. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 randomized pilot study to assess its efficacy in resolving CE and improving reproductive outcomes.
