Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cipromet is an oral antibacterial small molecule drug containing ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Developed and marketed by Medimet Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh, it is available as 250 mg and 500 mg film-coated tablets. The drug targets bacterial DNA gyrase and DNA topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. By inhibiting these enzymes, Cipromet prevents bacterial cell division and leads to cell death. It is indicated for a broad spectrum of bacterial infections, including severe systemic infections such as septicemia and bacteremia, respiratory tract infections like pneumonia and bronchitis, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal tract infections, gonorrhea, and infections in immunosuppressed patients.
