Unlike linear mRNA, circular RNA lacks 5' and 3' ends, which protects it from exonuclease-mediated degradation, potentially leading to more stable and prolonged protein expression. In the context of oncology, circIL-15 is typically delivered via lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to the tumor microenvironment or systemic circulation, where it induces the production of IL-15.
