Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Circovac** is a veterinary vaccine consisting of an emulsion and suspension for emulsion for injection containing inactivated **porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2)** (≥1.8 log10 ELISA units per ml), adjuvanted with light paraffin oil and preserved with thiomersal (0.10 mg/ml). It is indicated for active immunization of piglets from 3 weeks of age to reduce PCV2 fecal excretion, viremia, clinical signs (wasting, weight loss, mortality), and lymphoid lesions, with onset of immunity at 2 weeks and duration of at least 14-23 weeks. In sows and gilts, it provides passive immunity to piglets via colostrum, reducing lymphoid lesions and PCV2-linked mortality, with passive immunity lasting up to 5 weeks. Developed and manufactured by **Ceva**, it is administered via deep intramuscular injection (0.5 ml for piglets, 2 ml for sows/gilts) and is authorized in the EU with ATCvet code **QI09AA07**.[1][2][4][5]
