Overview
The circovirus vaccine is a veterinary biologic being developed by Quratis for the prevention of Porcine circovirus infection in swine. Porcine circovirus (PCV), specifically PCV type 2 (PCV2), is the causative agent of several conditions collectively known as Porcine Circovirus Associated Diseases (PCVAD), including Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS), which causes significant economic losses in the global pork industry. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the pig's immune system to produce antibodies against the virus, typically by targeting the viral capsid protein, thereby reducing viral load and clinical symptoms. As of 2024, the Quratis program is in the preclinical stage of development.
