Overview

ciRS-7 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and knock down the circular RNA ciRS-7 (also known as CDR1-as). In various cancer models, including breast cancer and renal cell carcinoma, ciRS-7 acts as an oncogenic competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) or 'sponge' that sequesters tumor-suppressive microRNAs such as miR-7-5p, miR-1299, and miR-139-3p. By silencing ciRS-7, ciRS-7 siRNA releases these microRNAs, leading to the downregulation of downstream oncogenic targets (such as CKS2, EGFR, and TAGLN), which subsequently suppresses cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis. It is primarily utilized as a research-use-only laboratory tool to investigate circular RNA biology and the ciRS-7/miRNA regulatory axes.
