cis-ACCP (cis-2-aminocyclohexylcarbamoylphosphonic acid) is a small molecule research compound that functions as an orally active, selective matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor. It acts as a reversible and competitive inhibitor, specifically targeting type IV collagen-specific MMPs, with a preference for MMP-2 (IC50 of 4 μM) over MMP-9 (IC50 of 20 μM). By inhibiting these enzymes, cis-ACCP prevents the degradation of the extracellular matrix, which is a critical step in tumor invasion and metastasis. In preclinical cancer models, the compound has demonstrated significant antimetastatic activity, reducing metastasis formation in mice by approximately 90% when administered at 50 mg/kg via oral or intraperitoneal routes. Animal studies have shown the compound to be nontoxic up to 500 mg/kg. While it has shown promise in laboratory settings for cancer metastasis and various chronic diseases, no clinical trials have been conducted to date, and it remains a research tool compound available for laboratory use only.
