Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ciscare is a non-hormonal topical vaginal gel developed by Procare Health for the prevention and adjuvant treatment of recurrent cystitis and genital infections. The product utilizes a niosomal delivery system to provide hydration and barrier protection to the vaginal mucosa. Its primary mechanism involves the restoration of the vaginal microbiota through the prebiotic alpha-glucan oligosaccharide (Bioecolia), which promotes the growth of beneficial *Lactobacillus* species. By strengthening the vaginal mucosal barrier and maintaining a healthy microbial environment, Ciscare prevents the migration and ascent of uropathogenic bacteria, such as *Escherichia coli*, from the vagina to the urinary tract. It is typically regulated as a medical device and is indicated for women prone to frequent urinary tract infections.
