Cisplacel

Cisplacel is a local chemotherapeutic product developed by UNITEHPROM (Belarusian State University). It consists of an absorbable matrix composed of oxidized cellulose wipes impregnated with cisplatin, a platinum-based alkylating agent. The product is designed for intraoperative application directly into the resection cavity following the surgical removal of tumors. Its primary mechanism of action involves the formation of DNA crosslinks, which inhibits DNA replication and transcription, ultimately leading to apoptosis in residual cancer cells. Cisplacel is indicated for the treatment of supratentorial neuroepithelial brain tumors, brain metastases, malignant neoplasms of the spine and paravertebral soft tissues, and malignant neoplasms of the head and neck. It is currently approved and marketed in Belarus.
