Overview

Cisplatin + etoposide + vindesine is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that induces DNA strand breaks and prevents cell division. Vindesine is a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly, disrupting mitosis. The combination aims to exploit synergistic cytotoxic effects on rapidly dividing tumor cells. Clinical studies have shown moderate response rates and acceptable toxicity profiles for this regimen in NSCLC patients[1][2].
