This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four agents: - **Cisplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Fluorouracil (5-FU)** is an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis and function. - **Vinorelbine** is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly, arresting cell division at metaphase[5]. - **Insulin** is a peptide hormone primarily used for glycemic control; its inclusion in this regimen may be experimental or investigational as it does not have established use as an anticancer agent. Combinations of cisplatin, fluorouracil, and vinorelbine are used for the treatment of various cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCHNC), and carcinoma of unknown primary[1][3][5]. The addition of insulin to this combination does not correspond to any standard or widely recognized oncology protocol. The mechanism by which insulin would contribute to anticancer efficacy in this context remains unclear.
