Overview
The combination of cisplatin, fluorouracil (5-FU), pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD), and trastuzumab is a multi-drug regimen that has been studied for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. This combination leverages the synergistic effects of these agents while potentially reducing certain toxicities compared to conventional formulations. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin is a formulation where doxorubicin is encapsulated in polyethylene glycol (PEG) coated liposomes, which increases its longevity in circulation and allows for preferential uptake in tumor tissue due to the enhanced permeation retention effect.
