This drug combination, often referred to by the acronym GPPB, is an experimental induction therapy regimen being evaluated for the treatment of locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). It consists of two standard chemotherapy agents, cisplatin and gemcitabine, combined with the anti-angiogenic monoclonal antibody bevacizumab and the PD-1-targeting immune checkpoint inhibitor pembrolizumab. The regimen is designed to maximize anti-tumor activity by simultaneously inducing DNA damage in cancer cells, inhibiting tumor-associated angiogenesis, and enhancing the host's T-cell-mediated immune response against the malignancy. The National University Hospital, Singapore, is the primary investigator for this combination in the context of induction therapy prior to definitive treatment.
