This is a combination regimen consisting of four agents: - Cisplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that forms DNA crosslinks and induces apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - Haishengsu, a protein extract derived from Tegillarca granosa (Ark shell), studied for its potential to suppress multidrug resistance genes (such as mdr1, BCR/ABL, and sorcin) and induce apoptosis in tumor cells. It is under investigation primarily in China as an adjunct or alternative therapy for cancer[4]. - Mitomycin (commonly mitomycin C), an antitumor antibiotic that acts as an alkylating agent causing DNA crosslinking and inhibition of DNA synthesis. - Vindesine, a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly during cell division. The combination of cisplatin, mitomycin, and vindesine has been studied extensively for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), showing significant response rates with predictable toxicity profiles[1][2]. Haishengsu is being explored for its ability to overcome drug resistance mechanisms. The full four-drug combination may be experimental or investigational; there are no large-scale published studies on the exact four-drug regimen together.
