Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of cisplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent, and interferon alpha-2b, a recombinant human interferon. Cisplatin works by crosslinking DNA, interfering with cell division and triggering apoptosis in cancer cells. Interferon alpha-2b has immunomodulatory, antiviral, and antiproliferative effects, binding to cell surface receptors and activating signaling pathways that inhibit cell proliferation. This combination has been studied in various cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma, biliary tract cancer, and mucosal melanoma.
