Overview

The combination of cisplatin, mitomycin-c, and vindesine—commonly referred to as the MVP regimen—is a chemotherapy protocol primarily used in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). - **Cisplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis by inhibiting DNA synthesis and function. - **Mitomycin-c** is an antitumor antibiotic that acts as an alkylating agent after metabolic activation, causing DNA crosslinking and inhibition of DNA synthesis. - **Vindesine** is a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly during mitosis, thereby arresting cell division. This combination has demonstrated significant activity in NSCLC with response rates around 50% in phase II studies. The main toxicities are myelosuppression (notably leukopenia and thrombocytopenia), but other side effects are generally manageable[1][3]. The MVP regimen is not associated with a unique brand name but may be referenced by its component drugs or as "MVP."
