Cisplatin + rh-endostatin is a combination therapy consisting of cisplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells, and recombinant human endostatin (rh-endostatin), an antiangiogenic biologic that inhibits tumor neovascularization primarily by blocking vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathways and proteolytic enzyme activity. Rh-endostatin is also known as Endostar in China. This combination has been investigated for the treatment of various advanced solid tumors—including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), melanoma, osteosarcoma, and malignant pleural effusion—often as part of first- or second-line regimens. The rationale for combining these agents is to enhance antitumor efficacy by simultaneously targeting tumor cell proliferation (cisplatin) and tumor angiogenesis (rh-endostatin). Clinical studies have shown improved response rates and progression-free survival compared to chemotherapy alone with manageable toxicity profiles[2][3][4][5][6][7].
