Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cisplatin polymeric micelles is a nanoparticle-based formulation of the platinum-containing chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin, currently under preclinical development by Anhui Taienkang Pharmaceutical. By encapsulating cisplatin within polymeric micelles, the formulation is designed to enhance the solubility and stability of the drug while facilitating targeted delivery to tumor tissues through the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. This approach aims to mitigate the severe side effects associated with conventional cisplatin therapy, such as nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, and peripheral neuropathy, by maintaining lower systemic concentrations of free drug and improving the therapeutic index for various oncological indications.
