Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Citicoline + bacopa monnieri** is a combination nootropic formulation comprising two compounds with complementary neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing properties[1][5]. Citicoline (CDP-choline) is a precursor to phosphatidylcholine and supports neuronal membrane integrity, enhances cholinergic neurotransmission, and exhibits neuroprotective, memory, and attention-enhancing effects. Bacopa monnieri, a medicinal herb traditionally used in Ayurveda (also known as Brahmi), contains bacosides and other saponin glycosides that modulate multiple mechanisms: antioxidant neuroprotection, increased cerebral blood flow, β-amyloid reduction, acetylcholinesterase inhibition, choline acetyltransferase activation, neurotransmitter modulation (acetylcholine, norepinephrine, serotonin/5-HT, dopamine), neuroinflammation attenuation, and regulation of neurogenesis pathways[1][2][4][6]. Combined use is hypothesized to yield additive or synergistic effects in correcting cognitive impairment of degenerative or vascular origins due to overlapping and complementary mechanisms[1].
