Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Citishine P is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Emblazon Life Sciences. It contains two active ingredients: citicoline and piracetam. Citicoline is a neuroprotective agent that acts as an intermediate in the biosynthesis of structural phospholipids in neuronal membranes, particularly phosphatidylcholine. It also increases the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine and dopamine. Piracetam is a cyclic derivative of GABA and a nootropic agent that improves cognitive function by modulating ion channels and receptors, including AMPA receptors, and by enhancing neuronal membrane fluidity. This combination is primarily used in the management of cognitive decline, memory loss, and recovery following ischemic stroke or head injury.
