Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Citragel is a nutritional supplement and therapeutic adjuvant containing calcium citrate malate (500 mg) and colecalciferol (Vitamin D3, 200 IU). It is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and the management of organic calcium deficiencies. Calcium citrate malate is a highly bioavailable form of calcium that supports bone mineral density and structural integrity. Colecalciferol acts as an agonist at the Vitamin D receptor (VDR), promoting the intestinal absorption of calcium and maintaining calcium-phosphate homeostasis, which is essential for bone mineralization. The product is also used to treat conditions such as rickets, hypoparathyroidism (poor parathyroid function), and hypophosphatemia (low phosphate levels). It is typically formulated as coated tablets for oral administration and is available as an established product in various international markets.
