Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Citro-Soda is an over-the-counter (OTC) effervescent formulation developed and marketed by Adcock Ingram. It functions as both a gastric antacid and a urinary alkalinizing agent. The product is composed of a combination of sodium bicarbonate, tartaric acid, citric acid, and sodium citrate. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of heartburn and acid indigestion by neutralizing excess gastric acid. Additionally, it is used to alleviate the discomfort associated with urinary tract infections (UTIs) and to manage high uric acid levels (hyperuricemia) related to gout by increasing the pH of the urine. The effervescent granules are typically dissolved in water for oral administration.
