Overview
Citrus e fructibus + cydonia e fructibus (commonly known by the brand name Gencydo) is an anthroposophic combination preparation derived from lemon (*Citrus medica* ssp. *limonum*) and quince (*Cydonia oblonga*) fruit extracts. Developed by WALA Heilmittel GmbH and Weleda AG, it is primarily used for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and other allergic disorders. The preparation is designed to modulate immunological pathways involved in allergic responses; in vitro studies suggest that the Citrus component selectively reduces allergen-specific chronic inflammatory (TNF-alpha) and Th2 pathway activity (IL-5), while the Cydonia component and the combination product mainly affect the induction of the allergen-specific Th1 pathway (IFN-gamma). It is available in various formulations, including solutions for subcutaneous injection, nasal sprays, and eye drops.
